Quotes on Love

“Doesn’t love mean trust, faith, giving of yourself? Doesn’t love mean filling a gap, meeting a need, completing the whole?”

“It’s good to let God pick a man for you. We don’t do so well when we pick them ourselves. They end up like lipsticks in a drawer, all those wrong colors you thought looked so good in the package.”

“You need someone in your life who sees trees the same way you do.”

“Love me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I really need it.”

“Love has all the lasting permanence of a rainbow- beautiful while it’s there, and just as likely to have disappeared by the time you blink.”

“Love is ease, love is comfort, love is support and respect. Love is not punishing or controlling. Love lets you grow and breathe. Love’s passion is only good passion– swirling-leaves-on-a-fall-day passion– not angst and anxiety. Love is not hurt and harm. Love is never unsafe. Love is sleeping like puzzle pieces. It’s your own garden you protect; it’s a field of wild flowers you move about in both freely and together.”

Now go out and fill your lives with more love. ❤

The Battle of Morality

What will you do

When you’re on trial

For a crime you didn’t commit-

Do you put on a smile

And lie, or stand up tall and admit

That yes, you were there,

But you never saw that man

For you were wearing nothing but shame where

You met your lover in the garage and betrayed your biggest fan-

The one who’s been there all your life

Always caring for you, (but why?)

The meek one, she’s your wife.

You’ll swear by and by

You didn’t know your lover was married (honest)

So when her husband knocked on your door

And your wife listened to him threaten you in the calmest

Manner and invited him in; and with his back turned she knocked him down to the floor

Before realizing what she had done, before the panic

That she couldn’t lift him alone

She began to pace, frantic

(Her innocence was blown)

When she discovered a creak in the wood,

Lifted up the board and pushed him under the patio

And cleaned up the blood

Before you would know.

But when he “went missing” she cried in your arms

About the man that came over with a knife

And wouldn’t back down. Alarms

Sounded in your head- he would have taken your life

And you realized your faithful wife never knew

That you hadn’t been loyal- and now it’s too late.

After all you two have been through

Put in the hands of karmic fate.

Your body raises to walk to the stand

But do you confess? Say that you strayed

From your ever faithful partner to fruit that was banned?

You think to yourself that you really should have stayed

With her, as she looks at you with starry eyes.

Do you fill this woman with even more pain

Or cover up her only lies?

And now that you know what she did, could she do it again?

So what’s the worst outcome-

Living a lifetime in jail for a crime you didn’t perform

Or admitting she did it, and you’re responsible for the monster she’s become?

You near the stand preparing for the storm.

But the question remains- what would you do

With all eyes on you?

A Little Piece of Me

Okay, so ideally I’d really like to post more pictures on here, so this is a little bit of a break from all of the poems lately because I’d like to mix it up and share a little bit about me 😉

I’m a little weird when it comes to certain things, but lately I’ve been addicted to nail art and trying different things. It’s helped me be a little bit more eccentric and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it! So here are a few of my favorite manicures over the past year.

mani1 mani2 mani3 mani4 mani5 mani6 mani7

Please don’t mind my horrible cuticles and if it’s messy, that was before cleanup! 😉

Anyway, so I ask all of you wonderful people: What is something that you like to do that others may not know? 🙂 Thanks in advance for sharing!

Liebster Award!

Thanks, Megan from http://thoughtsofafutureauthor.wordpress.com/ for nominating me for the Liebster Award!

So here are the rules for this award:

1. .  I have to say 11 things about myself.

2.  I have to answer the 11 questions posed to me.

3.  I have to make up 11 more questions.

4.  Finally, I have to nominate 11 other bloggers who will answer my 11 questions.  (And let them know, obviously.)

I am truly honored that I have been nominated once again for a blog award. Thank you so much!!

11 Things about me:

1. I’m obsessed with nail polish

2. I have been knitting a blanket for about 2 years now

3. My favorite color is purple

4. I still love Disney

5. I obsess over TV shows like I’m living it

6. The only plant I’ve been able to keep alive is bamboo

7. I constantly go window shopping online, fill up an online basket, and then go to a different website and never actually buy anything

8. But I love spending money, and do it like it’s my job

9. My mom is my favorite person

10. I love animals of all kinds, right now mostly giraffes, moose, or ducks!

11. I’ve always wanted a pet duck

Here are Megan’s questions with my answers:

1. What is your favorite movie?

I have so many favorite movies that it’s really hard to choose. Hmm….. probably Bridesmaids 🙂

2. Who is your favorite historical character and why?

My favorite historical character… I think Lincoln is a pretty inspiring person.

3. What genre do you enjoy writing and why?

I’m not really good with short stories because I’m bad at keeping the plot… For writing poetry, the genre would probably be “real life drama”. I like writing things that other people can relate to.

4. What is your favorite candy?

Sour patch kids! Sour skittles, Sour punch straws, anything sour :b

5. Are you a cat or dog person and why?

Dogs! I’ve had at least one dog ever since I was 2 years old.

6. What are your reasons for starting your blog?

I never really thought about having a blog at first, but when I realized that it would be a way for me to share my thoughts, feelings, and creativity with others then I thought it would be a really good idea. Plus, I think it’s a lot of fun.

7. What book best represents you and why?

This is a really tough question! Hmmm… The first thing that comes to mind is Dreamland by Sarah Dessen, not because I’ve ever been in an abusive relationship, but because the main story is about a girl that overcomes her struggles even when they may take her to the darkest emotional places. However, she’s much stronger afterward and she goes on to better herself.

8. Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what band best gets your creative juices flowing?

I can’t listen to music when I write, because I’m too focused on what I’m doing. I listen to music when I’m doing pretty much everything else though, for the simple fact that it helps me focus when I’m having trouble and music has always been a very big part of my life.

9. Are you a procrastinator?

Can I answer this later? 😉

10. Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Real life events, things that I personally go through or that I witness other people going through. Or just random thoughts that I like to explore.

11. What is one thing nobody knows about you that you would like to share?

I’m double jointed in my pinky toes? Weird, I know.

Here are my 11 questions for others to answer:

1. Who is someone that you look up to?

2. What are you currently reading?

3. Do you have a motto? If so, what is it?

4. What was your favorite thing about this week, and why?

5. What is a song that you would put on the “Soundtrack of your life”?

6. Do you have a favorite/lucky number? What’s so special about it?

7. What is your favorite drink?

8. What is your favorite style to use in writing?

9. Which character from a book that you’ve read did you find yourself relating to most?

10. What do you like about Spring?

11. Who is your best friend?

Fade Away

Cherubic smiles

Pinched pink blossomed cheeks

With springy hair

Amateur limbs

And inhibitions.

Slanted smiles

Red rushed rosy faces

While taming tangles

With experienced limbs

And imaginary invincibility.

And Deteriorating.

Faces fading

Along with memories

Until nothing precedes you

And your soul succumbs.

I’ll shed a tear for you

Made from love

And the fondest memories

Of holding you in my arms

And stroking your soft hair absentmindedly.

You were always there for me

To lift up my spirits

When they were down

And I have never

Had a better friend than you.

You were a free spirit

Roaming the wilderness,

but you came back to society

To spend your life with me.

Without you,

I know that I will never be the same

So I will shed a tear for you

Even though you won’t be here to catch it.

It will hold

All our love

And memories.

It started on paper because I wanted to hold the shape of it. I wrote it for a friend that’s having a really hard time right now because she has to say goodbye to her lifelong friend, a cat named Mr. Boggles. I understand the pain that she’s going through, and we’re very close friends- almost like sisters, so it’s been rather emotional for me as well. Please feel free to leave any words of wisdom that may help a friend heal the wounds during this difficult time. I’d love to hear your stories as well whether they’re happy memories of an old friend of yours or stories that show your empathy for the situation. Thank you, all of you, for being you!

Life Changes

So you want to be happy, but don’t know how?

Well here’s the reason why:

You’re too distracted with the thought

Of skin rubbing, thigh to thigh

And stop telling yourself that things will change on their own

Because you know that’s a lie

You have to ignore the naysayers

Critiquing you as you walk by

That’s the first step to accepting

A brand new way of life

And changing your habits one by one

Slowly saying goodbye

To the you that you used to be

And hello

To the you

That has reached

The sky.
